Emotional Hybrid Concept wins "Bravo!" award

The Emotional Hybrid concept by Italian Architect and designer Aldo Meli has received the "Bravo!" award, organized by Fiat and Autocar magazine. The car features an original four-seat layout and canopy opening system.


Emotional Hybrid Concept by Aldo MeliThe "Bravo!" awards ceremony took place at Fiat’s stand on last 5 December 2007, during the opening press day at the Bologna Motor Show.

The contest was organized by Fiat in partnership with Autocar magazine, to celebrate the launch of the second generation Fiat Bravo, and saw the participation of twenty creative designers under 30 years, who submitted their innovative proposals in five different sectors typical of "Made in Italy": technological research, design, marketing, advertising and creativity.

Emotional Hybrid Concept by Aldo MeliThe jury panel included Silvio Scaglia (President of Fastweb), Fabrizio Giugiaro (Style Director at Italdesign Giugiaro), Carlo Pambianco (President of Pambianco Strategie s’Impresa), Marco Testa (President of Armando Testa), fashion stylist Elio Fiorucci, Luca de Meo (chief marketing officer at Fiat Group) and Pietro Boroli (president of publishing company De Agostini Periodici).

The selected four finalist projects were finally judjed by Autocar’s readers, who voted for the Emotional Hybrid Concept by Aldo Meli.

Author Aldo Meli, architect and designer from Sicily, explains "Starting from the Emotional Hybrid theme, proposed during the Master RSP in Transportation Design at the Turin-based Istituto Europeo di Design, I developed my personal concept thiking about a dynamic and active family, made of a young couple with two young children, preferably twins."

Emotional Hybrid Concept by Aldo Meli"The formal insiration came from nature, in particular from the puma."

This translated into a car with four muscular wheel-arches, a transparent canopy and a top bearing structure that serves as the main component for the opening mechanism.

The original layout combines a conventional first row of front seats with two children seats located one behind the other on the central tunnel.

The "Bravo!" award was presented by Santo Ficili, Fiat market Italy director, and Luca Grandori, director of Autocar magazine.
