share on BufferThe Prague-based international design contest was organized by Dassault Systèmes and the AutoDesign&Styling magazine with the support of the civic association Czechdesign.
The theme was “Age of Design”, which aimed at drawing attention to the important role of applied design in everyday life.
In total, over 60 designers entered the competition open to young designers under 35 years of age and held under the auspices of the Prague Mayor.
Participants were asked to present, through individual objects, their ideas of a modern European city and its citizens.
On 7 September, the seven-member jury, led by Vice President of Dassault Systèmes Anne Asensio, selected three finalists. They attended the final workshop, during which they developed their concepts using the professional 3D design tool CATIA Natural Sketch.
The jury consisted of Anne Asensio, AutoDesign&Styling Editor-in-Chief Radek Laube, Jana Vinšová from Czechdesign, Dassault Systèmes’ Automotive Industry Client Executive Miloš Korvas and renowned Czech designers Ladislav Škoda, Petr Novaque and Martin Žampach. The competition projects will be published in the next issue of AutoDesign&Styling.
The winners
Riten Gojiya from India is the winner of the challenge, with a futuristic vision of a hovercraft for “zero gravity tours”.
The second prize went to Josef Ludvík Böhm and his design of an active robotic orthosis, “7-miles”. Jakub Novák, with a project of a non-traditional pedal boat, was awarded third place.
The official prize ceremony took place in the National Technical Library at the AutoDesign Prague conference on Thursday 18 October.
The winner will receive EUR 1,000.
The second and third places will respectively get EUR 500 and EUR 300.
“All three final projects are realistic though innovative. For both residents and tourists they offer a unique way to experience and explore Prague.
“Riten Gojiya’s inspirational winning project proves that its author is a great and poetic storyteller,” said the designer Anne Asensio.
