share on BufferSpeaking about the contest’s main idea, Radek Laube, editor-in-chief of AutoDesign&Styling explains: “We all have our favourite historical car, maybe even several, and so by means of our competition we want to offer every designer the opportunity to dream a little and create a new icon from an automobile he/she has admired since childhood and knows well.”
The top three winners, selected by a jury of professional designers, will receive a financial reward and a free pass to the 2015 edition of the international conference Auto Design Prague.
The jury will select those designers whose designs best capture and transfer the spirit of the original model, transforming it into a modern car with ambitions to become the same icon as its original.
Since the main partner of the contest is an automotive lighting supplier, Varroc Lighting Systems, there is also a particular focus on lighting design, which should be one of the main elements of the overall look.
Participants can submit either hand drawn sketches (both digital and analogue) or full 3D models.
The competition is open to all designers regardless of age, and the deadline for submissions is 11 January 2015.
