At the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show Yamaha Motor and British Gordon Murray Design have unveiled the MOTIV.e Concept, an electric city car with an innovative lightweight platform.

The concept car combines Yamaha Motor’s multi-wheel history and expertise and Gordon Murray Design’s revolutionary iStream® manufacturing technology, which incorporates Formula One-derived composite technology and manufacturing flexibility alongside low environmental impact.

The iStream design is centered on a steel frame with bonded composite monocoque panels which give form to a lightweight, rigid safety cell.

Technical highlights include an all-new electric powertrain and a chassis with all independent suspension and low unsprung weight.

The design is dynamic and quite distinctive, and incorporates several styling cues inspired by the motorcycle world.
