Envisage Group launches bespoke design services

At the Top Marques Show in Monaco British Envisage Group is launching a new design service that allows customers to have their dream car designed and built to their specification.

Launching at the Top Marques show in Monaco (April 17-20), this new service adopts advanced manufacturing technologies used for the construction of prototypes and in Formula 1.

The Envisage Group stand will have on display a ¼-scale model of the all-new Khan Grand
Tourer concept as well as a recreation of a Le Mans winning Jaguar, the Proteus C-Type.

The “design journey” begins with the client and Envisage Group’s design director Ian Nisbett forming ideas in a virtual environment at the technical center in Coventry.

“Using virtual reality, we can build and test any number of ideas, gradually refining the look of the vehicle, viewing it in favourite locations, exploring shapes and textures until perfection is realised,” explains Nisbett.

“Customers can view their digital car fromany angle, sit in it and close the door, even see it in their garage or next to their boat,” he says.

“When they are completely happy, we make a full size model for sign-off.”

The key to this capability is the blend of craftsmanship and new technology available at Envisage Group’s new technical centre in Coventry.

More than £3 million has been invested in design and build technologies specifically to bring automotive dreams to life.

As well as the remarkable 3D design environment, Envisage Group uses laser sintering to create bespoke components in a range of materials, laser forming to craft bespoke lighting, graphics and instrumentation, and ultra-high precision etching to create intricate grills, trim and decor.

These advanced techniques are combined with traditional coachbuilding skills, allowing high technology to be blended with fine leathers, hand-shaped aluminium and beautiful woods.

“Part of the skill that we bring is our engineers having a detailed understanding of vehicle technology and safety legislation, which allows us to ensure that every individual car also performs to the very highest technical standards,” explains Nisbett.

“Our cars are not compromised in any way. Given sufficient budget, there is no limit to the level of perfection that can be achieved.”

Visitors to stand F2 will be taken on a journey through the four design stages, including live sketching by Ian Nisbett, who will invite guests to ‘step into their dreams’.

Selected customers will then be given the opportunity to slip into a virtual 3D world to visualise their custom-designed car, perfect in every detail, parked alongside their weekend yacht or premium speedboat.
