Bentley reveals the Bentayga, the most exclusive SUV in the world

Ahead of its debut in Frankfurt, Bentley has revealed the Bentayga, the most powerful and fastest SUV ever, combining a luxurious interior with an all-new chassis and a 6.0 liter W12 that can push it up to 301 km/h.

Design

The design of the new Bentley Bentayga is an evolution of the EXP 9 F Concept presented at the Geneva Show in 2012 and that raised a controversial reaction from the public.

Compared to it, the proportions and the flanks treatment are similar, while the face has undergone significant changes, with twin round LED headlamps in place of the large single lighting units, and more conventional air openings in place of the circular, propeller-like intakes of the concept.

The construction of the side panels involves the largest single-piece aluminum pressing in the automotive world.

To emphasize the all-terrain capabilities, the design team integrated a skid plate into the lower section of the front bumper, just below the floating wing motif.

At the rear, within the segmented tail lights, a new ‘B’-shaped illumination graphic gives an easily recognizable night-time signature.

As standard, the Bentayga comes with a large panoramic glass roof split into two panes that can be obscured via an electric roller blind.

Either side of the glass roof are aluminium roof rails that combine two different finishes – a high-gloss black base and bright anodised top section.

The range of bespoke Bentayga alloy wheels are available in sizes ranging from 20” to 22”.

The interior, finished in premium metal, wood and leather, expresses pure luxury, combining traditional craftsmanship with manufacturing precision and advanced technology.

Technical Features

The Bentayga is powered by an all-new twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 engine delivering 608 PS (600 bhp / 447kW) and 900 Nm (663 lb. ft) and enabling a 0-60 mph time of 4.0 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds) and a top speed of 187 mph (301 km/h).

Among the distinctive features are a wide range of on- and off-road drive settings via the Drive Dynamics Mode and optional Responsive Off-Road Setting, which allows the customer to select the appropriate vehicle settings for a wide range of off-road surfaces, while the Driver Information Panel displays information on pitch, roll, wheel articulation, steering angle, compass bearing and altitude.

Additional features include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Traffic Sign Recognition, Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, Electronic Night Vision and Top View, a system which uses four cameras to display an overall picture of the vehicle’s surroundings.

I’m trying to like it… It just… Doesn’t look good! The proportions, especially in the back, seems wrong. It looks bulky and slow… Clearly not reflecting the title of fastest SUV on the planet. Looking forward to see the production version of the Urus.
